Why should you be fined for not having health insurance?
In Massachusetts when you file your taxes and you are found to not have health insurace for that year they penalize you. I know someone that was charged $500 for not having health insurance. Is there any other states that do this or is it just a Mass thing? I feel bad because obviously the reason why people don't have insurance in the first place is because they can't AFFORD IT, and then they get fined for not being able to afford it. How does this make sense? Tax Penalties for 2010Failure to have health coverage under the Massachusetts mandate will continue to result in penalties in 2010. You will pay a penalty for any month in which you do not have mandated coverage. Depending on income level and family size, individuals can face a penalty. Penalties in 2009 ranged from $204 to $1,068 for an entire year without coverage.Ewww OH hell no

How come health insurance companies are allowed to discriminate against people with disabilities?
How is it legal for health insurance companies to discriminate against people with disabilities I mean, medical disabilities , but other companies are not allowed to, like grocery stores are not allowed to? Or maybe it IS legal for other businesses to discriminate against people I am really just curious, that's all. About the legal process. Health insurance companies kind of make me mad, because of this issue. I know I am expressing a political opinion, but I ask you not to troll. If you have a different opinnion thatn me, you can argue for it, but please don't start trollin.'

What is it about health insurance for the poor that right wing conservative Christians oppose?
Please explain Wise, or is this your way of avoiding an actual answer to my question?Do you not see that you are already paying for it? Instead of a $50 office visit and $20 worth of drugs for a baby with a cold and no insurance, we are now paying $50,000 for emergency room service and intensive care for that same baby who two weeks later ended up with phenomena.sorry..." pneumonia" Ann, I also live in Tennessee and am very aware of TennCare and the problems. The fact is it was taken advantage of early on but our governor straightened it out and it is now a functional. Nothing starts out perfect but in the end TennCare has been a blessing for many of the poor in our state who previously had no access to health care other than the most costly of all which is emergency care. Emergency care cannot be denied and is payed for by the rest of us.Well U Asked, finally a reasonable answer to a difficult question. I'm not here to try to sell anyone on socialism even though I've been accused of it. This question was meant to open eyes and attempt to get people to think beyond the partisan rhetoric that is going on right now. The fact is that every single person in the US has health insurance. Those who don't pay premiums can walk into any hospital emergency room in this country and cannot be denied health care. Those who pay insurance premiums pay for that care. Does it make more sense to allow those without insurance to have access to preventable health care which costs pennies on the dollar to emergency care or continue with the status quo? The staus quo is going to eventually bankrupt this country and then none of us will have health insurance or jobs to pay the premiums.
What would you say to a closeted HR person who picked health insurance that dosn't cover domestic partners?
What would you do if a closeted gay HR manager intentionally selected a health insurance policy for all the employees of a company that won't cover same sex partners. Furthermore, if you believed he was doing it to quell rumors that he was gay what would you do?I should have stated that the HR manager in question works for me. The policy he selected covers spouses, but not domestic partners even though I have made it a point to run a gay friendly business. As a gay man I'm not sure how to respond to the situation.
