Question: How do you know if you ever had a 401k lets say you forgot if you ever signed up for it. what do you do?

If you are still working for the same company, you can go up to human resources or whoever is in charge and ask them. another way is to look at your paycheck in other deductable items and if there is a 401k there, they take out the money and you know if you signed up for one.

Talk to your boss. You can find out if you have a 401K easily. ALSO~~~check your mail either through work or home, you should be receiving monthly or quarterly statements.
